'Make ICTs work for people' - National Institute For Smart Government (NISG) Workshop
 
The National Institute For Smart Government (NISG) organized an ICTD project workshop on July 8-9, 2004 at Hyderabad to bring together all the stakeholders in the ICTD sector. The workshop focused on four themes where ICTs could play a major role:
1. Integrated Citizen Services 
2. Rural Livelihoods 
3. Rural Governance 
4. Women/Child Empowerment
Nearly 140 prominent government dignitaries, officials from international development organizations and representatives from various NGO’s in India attended the workshop. Mr. Praveen Kumar Prithvi, Country Coordinator, World Corps India attended the workshop.

Seminar on Kuppam HP I Community Project

To commemorate its completion of 2 ½ years of work in the Kuppam i-community project, Hewlett Packard organized a one-day seminar at Bangalore on 20-21 August 2004. Among its many projects in Kuppam one is the developing of a citizen centric services portal and delivering of services through the CICs set up in association with World Corps India. A Coffee Table Book on HP’s work in Kuppam was released during this occasion. Praveen Kumar Prithvi, Country Coordinator represented World Corps India in this event and made a presentation on the activities of WCI-HP partnership in Kuppam.

Youth Employment Summit (YES) Mexico 2004

A milestone event of the Youth Employment Summit was held at the Boca del Rio World Trade Center, Veracruz, Mexico from the 4th to the 7th of October 2004. This 2nd Global Summit for the Youth Employment evaluated global progress on youth employment and successful programs, policies, and projects within the Summit’s Framework for Action were highlighted and shared among Summit delegates. The State of the YES Campaign Report 2004 was also released during this occasion. About 1000 participants from governments, intergovernmental agencies, civil society, youth organizations, private sector, donor agencies, mass media and youth attended this milestone event.

Trainers’ Training Programme on Entrepreneurship Development

RUDSETI conducted a 5 days Trainers’ Training Programme on Entrepreneurship Development during August 2004 at Dharmastala, Karnataka. Mr. Jyothendra Gunnam, Project Coordinator, Kuppam participated in the programme along with participants from various public sector banks and NGOs from across India.

Visitors to CICs

Dr.Shririn Madon of the London School of Economics visited the CICs during August 2004 as a part of our continued efforts on research in Information and Communication Technology for Development
