Achievements of SCIC |
|
One of the notable achievements of SCIC is designing the
“Performance Indicators of Public Schools (government owned)”
The CIC entrepreneurs participated in the mandal level teachers meeting of Santhipuram. The agenda for the meeting included monthly performance reporting of the schools in the mandal to be submitted to the district authorities for appraisal.
Teachers did not follow a uniform procedure and format in providing the “Performance Indicators of the Schools” Report and some teachers followed the format given by the district authorities and submitted the reports in their own handwriting. The objective of the report was to review the performance of the schools in the mandal on a monthly basis. Mandal Educational Officer (M.E.O) and Mandal Resource Persons (M.R.Ps) undertook action steps needed for further improvement.
The entrepreneurs of SCIC proposed at the meeting that they would draft a spread sheet in their Centre “Performance Indicators Report” as per the format given by the district authorities and as agreed by the teachers. The indicators in the format are:
Enrollment of children in the age of 5+, Enrollment of 5-14 years old children for academic year 2002-2003, Mainstreaming of the school children in 5-14 years age group, Retention, Attendance Monitoring, School Education Committee meeting & Parents Teachers Association Meeting, VIIth class results, Xth class results, Visits and Inspections, Monitoring of “back to school” children (dropouts and child labourers) and Categorization of schools. “Food for Thought & Learning Scheme for Back to School Children”
Another format drafted by SCIC is for “Rice Distribution for the School Children”. The format has details like Name of the School, No. of Students in each Class, Rice Quantity required for the Month. Under this scheme school going children up to Vth standard are given 3 Kgs of rice per month. The objective of this “food for thought & learning” scheme is to enroll drop outs under the “back to school” programme for elimination of child labour by motivating the parents to send their children to the schools and thus realizing the constitutional objective of primary education for all the children in the age group of 5-14 years.
These two formats designed by SCIC enabled teachers, headmasters and officials of education department to update their data with less strain and precision for submission, analysis, compression and performance review. Moreover, teachers in mandals of Kuppam and V.Kota are also insisting on these formats and these have been made available at the Community Information Centres of these mandals on demand. |
