Rural Youth Feel The Need For A Community Information Centre

"We were interested in setting up a CIC at Mudaram Doddi because of the V.Kota CIC. We used to observe the entrepreneurs of that centre and also assisted them in their business. We felt that it would be of use to the people of Mudaram Doddi if a CIC was established and in turn we could also get benefited" say G. Subramanyam and R. Ram Babu of Mudaram Doddi village.

G. Subramanyam and R. Ram Babu are natives of Suddalakuppam village, Mudaram Doddi Panchayat who had been selected for setting up of a CIC at Mudaram Doddi. G. Subramanayam has completed his degree and R. Ram Babu has studied upto the intermediate level. Before becoming owners G. Subramanayam used to work as a Vidya Volunteer (teacher) in his village and R. Ram Babu used to work in his farms.

True to their words the Mudaram Doddi CIC entrepreneurs have been serving their community and below are some of their accomplisments.

  • Seven out of 9 people who had applied for Ration Cards through the HP i-community software received Ration Cards from the Government.
  • Assistance to seven Scheduled Caste (SC) & Backward Caste (BC) community people (people categorized by the Government for availing special benefits in various schemes of the Government) of Suddalakuppam in getting House Deeds from Mandal Revenue Office, V.Kota.

  • Helped a group of people engaged in weaving baskets as an income generation activity in availing margin money of Rs.10,000/- and subsidy of Rs.10,000/- from Scheduled Caste Corporation (a Government of Andhra Pradesh wing working for the development of the Scheduled Castes), Chittoor.

  • Identified 19 people of SC community and assisted them in proposing for grant of houses through the Housing Inspector,SC Corporation, Chittoor.

  • Assisted in drafting and submitting proposal for margin money (subsidy sanctioned by the Bank from the loan amount given to the beneficiaries) for 8 members from BC Corporation, Chittoor.

  • Assisted in submitting proposal for “Adharana Scheme” (Scheme of the Government of Andhra Pradesh through which a BC community person can avail loan for purchase of equipments/necessaries for his/her business) for 5 members from BC community, Chittoor.

  • Assisted 6 people of Suddalakuppam in getting duplicate passbooks (passbook is a proof of ownership of the land) since the applicants had lost their original documents of land ownership.
