Training of Youth in ICT and Entrepreneurship in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh

 

World Corps India (WCI) trained aspiring rural youth who wanted to become Community Information Centre (CIC) Owners and Operators in Computers and Internet and Entrepreneurship Development during January-February 2004 in Kuppam.

In the morning, Entrepreneurship Development training sessions and in the afternoon hands-on training sessions on Basic Computers and Internet were conducted.

Mr.M.J.Muthukumaraswamy and Mr.Mohan Rao, HRD Consultants of WCI from Hyderabad conducted classes on values, attitude, knowledge, skills, stress management, goal setting, leadership, self-confidence, systematic planning, creativity and different kinds of businesses.

The prospective youth entrepreneurs were asked to estimate the capital costs that would be required for starting a CIC in their Gram Panchayat and various services that they will provide through the CIC. Training on bookkeeping was given emphasizing the importance of proper bookkeeping and account maintenance.

At the end of the training the new CIC entrepreneurs were given an opportunity to do a weeklong internship at the existing CICs under the careful supervision and guidance of experienced CIC entrepreneurs to get familiar and well acquainted with the day-to-day operating of a CIC.
