During 2001-2002, with the support of Government of Andhra Pradesh and the involvement of the Hon’ble Chief Minster of Andhra Pradesh Shri N. Chandra Babu Naidu, World Corps India facilitated setting up of 5 Community Information Centres (CICs) at the 5 Mandal Headquarters of Kuppam Constituency, Chittoor District. Kuppam Constituency comprises of 5 mandals/blocks of Kuppam, Gudupalli, Rama Kuppam, Santhi Puram and Venkatagiri Kota.

The one year long project has trained 25 WCPs (15 youth, who had undergone rigorous selection process from these 5 mandals and 10 World Corps staff from 5 developing countries).

The CIC’s are functioning well and have started repaying their loans. World Corps India continues to monitor the CICs performance and provide demand-based interventions to the entrepreneurs of the CICs for business sustainability.

The multi-national giant, Hewlett Packard and World Corps India are presently working together in Kuppam to scale up the present 5 CICs to an additional 10 CICs that will be located in the Gram Panchayat headquarters spread over the 5 mandals of Kuppam Constituency in Chittoor District. Hewlett Packard is providing the technology inputs, services and solutions while World Corps India is providing the human resources and business development training to the owners, managers and operators of the CICs. Three Community Information Centres have been established by youth from the gram panchyats of Mallanur, Vijalapuram and Mudarumdoddi of Kuppam constituency. Training was given by World Corps India and Hewlett Packard provided the technical and grants support.
