World Corps India (WCI) meets the President of India at Kuppam
The President of India Bharat Rathna Shri A.P.J. Abdul Kalam came on a day visit to Kuppam to participate and visit the developmental activities being undertaken in Kuppam. World Corps India put up exhibits on its activities in a Photo Exhibition organized in connection to the President's visit to Kuppam. The President interacted with WCI team of Deepa Anandakrishnan, Praveen Kumar Prithvi and CIC

entreprenuers at the photo exhibition “What is the rate of unemployment and how is it being addressed in Kuppam”?, the President asked the team. WCI explained about its efforts to create youth employment through the Community Information Centre project and employment generation programme for 1,000 unemployed youth of Kuppam region. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri. N. Chandra Babu Naidu accompanied the President.

 
Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP), Malaysia recognizes WCI’s Community Information Centre model…

…as a Best Practice and Strategy under the category of Youth and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Asia Pacific Region and invites WCI to attend the “Youth Leaders in ICT” workshop at Malaysia, 21 - 24 June 2003.

The case study submitted by WCI was accepted and GKP sponsored N. Gowri Sankar of WCI to make a presentation on WCI's CIC model established in Kuppam. 

The main objective of the “Youth Leaders in ICT” event organized by GKP was to facilitate discussions and further enhance the efforts of the people engaged in utilizing ICT for development. In particular this event focused on knowledge and experience sharing among youth-led/ youth-including ICT projects from the Asia Pacific region.

N.Gowri Sankar also attended along with other youth leaders in ICT of the Asia Pacific region The Infosoc Malaysia 2003 International Conference “Catalyzing Youth for Value Creation: Leveraging on ICT” (23-24 June 2003) and Melaka International Dialogue 2003 “Youth and ICT For Development” (22-23 June 2003) at Melaka, Malaysia.
